Globe Gadget Care, insurance for your Globe phones!

Globe came up with a cool bundle with you subscribe to a postpaid plan. An insurance that will make your life easier in case of lost phone or damaged phone.

Gadget care secures your Globe handyphone. You need to pay additional fees for this – for as low as P89 monthly. You also have a participation fee to pay. The minimum participation fee is P1,500. Gadget care will replace your damaged or lost phone.

Globe categorized their phones into Band 1, 2, 3 and 4, there are also for feature phone, and smartphones as well. The more expensive the phone is the more premium you pay and the participation fee gets expensive.

Looking at the rates, it sounds expensive specially the participation fee. One of my officemates even commented that Gadget Care participation fee is even more expensive versus the one you pay for your car insurance.

Gadget Care can be availed with a new phone subscription, however if you already have existing subscription you scan still enroll your phone.

However for some people this might be a good value added feature from a Telco. For instance, a Galaxy Note 2 that sells for P32,990, and you get this in Globe postpaid, you pay P7,500 participation fee and a monthly premium of P399! That’s a total of P12,288 in a years time.

In case your phone is damaged or lost, here are the procedure for the claim:

STEP 1: REPORT the incident immediately or within seven (7) days of discovery
– Globe Gadget Care Hotline: (632) 7565400
– Toll-Free Number: 1-800-8-7565400
– Email Address: globeconsumerclaims.ph@acegroup.com

STEP 2: DOWNLOAD Gadget Care Claim form and fill-out it out completely

STEP 3: COMPLETE required documents, depending on the type of claim and SUBMIT documents via Gadget Care email or fax to start Claims approval.

STEP 4: PAY any outstanding Globe bill account balance and the corresponding participation fee depending on the Gadget Care plan, once Claim is approved. SUBMIT proof of payment via email or fax.

Types of claim includes accidental damage, theft, robbery, snatching, pickpocket, postpaid bill protect, accidental death, and temporary disability.

One of the advantage other than the general insurance coverage of your phone is the Worldwide Coverage, meaning if you lost your phone or damaged it while travelling abroad, it is still covered.

  1. i lost my phone Feb. 10,2013 and asked about globes gadget care insurance (service center and online)… to my dismay they told me that my phone is not covered. apparently the gadget care insurance only covers phone activated on or before january 15, 2013.

    the thing is i paid for the downpayment and got my phone (i have a superplan 1799) on the 14th of january 2013. the sales representative assured me that my account will be activated within 24 hours. it was activated on the 17th.
    up to today Globe Gadget Care – globe.com.ph they are still advertising at their site that all super plans are covered with gadget care and that the sales representative did not inform me that contrary to what their sites says is no longer available…
