Netflix Philippines now ready for subscription

Netflix Philippines Rates starts at P370/month.

We are not kidding. Netflix has just gone (almost) global and finally it is serving the Philippines.

It was announced from the CES 2016 that Netflix is making it subscription available in other countries outside the US.

That means no more VPN connection for us!

From 60 countries enjoying Internet TV, Netflix promised to reach 200 countries by the end of 2016.



Netflix Philippines plans

Subscription plan starts at P370 (about USD8). Basic plan (P370) will allow you to watch SD (standard definition) movies, lets you watch Netflix on one device only at a time. For HD (high definition) movies, you pay (Standard plan) P460 a month and watch movies with two devices at the same time. Ultra HD movies are available in Premium plan for P550.

There is no lock-in period. You can cancel your subscription anytime.

Neflix vs HOOQ vs iflix

Back in the local arena, video streaming service are already in place. Globe has partnership with HOOQ while Smart and PLDT has iflix.

iflix subscription is P129/month while HOOQ has P150/month.

Both Smart and Globe has subsidised subscription though. This will be the advantage of iflix and HOOQ over Netflix.

PLDT HOME subscribers enjoy a 12-month subscription with iflix, while Globe Tattoo subscribers get HOOQ for free in select subscription.
