Was it a launch, or party? The #GlobeGalaxyS3 launch at the Mind Museum

Last Friday was my first time to attend a gadget launch by a Telco. Globe Telecoms is launching their Samsung Galaxy S III at the Mind Museum in Taguig City. The function room was located at the side of the venue and it was filled with different personalities coming from the online media, tech bloggers, tv, radio and print media, distinguished guests from the corporate world and also celebrities from the various TV stations.

The event started at exactly 6:30 p.m. with the various Managers from Globe.  An announcement was made that Globe will raffle 10 laptop bags, 4 movie tickets each for 6 persons and 2 brand new Samsung Galaxy S III to be drawn and will be given to the lucky winners.

I was already crossing my fingers since what I heard, this phone is the fastest of them all. To note, the Samsung Galaxy S III is powered by it’s own 1.4 GHz Quad Core processor, 4.8 inch Super HD AMOLED screen, 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel rear Camera and comes packed with the “Ice Cream Sandwich” version of Android’s operating system. Using a micro-SIM form factor, the combination of internal storage and expandable SD card storage sets the S III with a maximum storage capacity of 128GB.

Wow, is this a tablet? No, it’s just a phone. Ahh, they call it the super phone! A very fast processing phone and an intelligent one. Imagine if you have a text message, and want to call the sender, no need to press any more keys. Just swing the phone to your ear and it automatically dials the sender’s number. Great, isn’t it? Very handy if both hands are full. No need to free up the other hand.

After announcing the winner of the 2 units of Samsung GalaxyS III, Globe made a special announcement to give 3 more Samsung Galaxy S III. Unfortunately, since I won the 4 tickets to the movie, i am no longer qualified. Friends from the media and the online bloggers were the 5 lucky winners to the great new gadget from Samsung.  Globe gave away a total of 5 units of #GlobeGalaxyS3 that night and lots other Galaxy phones to the lucky party goer.

I heard Globe always makes its product launches in a party mood where the guests mingle, and refreshments and food are served. This is why it is fun to attend Globe launches.
