Nokia 808 PureView Now on Sale!

Rejoice, camera-phone and Symbian fans! The new camera-phone king – the Nokia 808 PureView – is now available in the Philippines.

We also had a quick hands-on with the 41 megapixel camera-phone itself. Our first impression is that it is thick. There you go, I said it. It’s like 2 times thicker than the Samsung GALAXY S III. The screen is a big 4-inch one but unfortunately, it only has a 640×360 screen resolution which looks so 2008. There are cool stuffs about this phone too, it has an HDMI port which will compliment the awesome photos that it takes so you can view them on a big screen, there’s also an FM transmitter which can broadcast audio playing right on your phone to FM radios around you.

We took some photos with this mammoth camera too! Images turned out to be good, but we were limited to a small room and had nothing too much to photograph. Check out our sample photos taken with the Nokia 808 PureView at my Flickr album.

What I didn’t like is that this device still runs on the old Symbian OS. It just feels clunky and dated now. Yes I know the software is fast, but it’s the ecosystem that matters more now. Even the keyboard has not changed since 2010. Look at that…

Enough rants. I’m sure there are still many Symbian fans remaining in the wild out there and what more – N8 users who are looking to upgrade to the 808 PureView. Here’s the good news: It is now available at selected Nokia Stores nationwide for P26,550! If you feel like spending that amount of cash for a device with a zombie OS, then head-on and find out the nearest Nokia Store at your location. They will also sell accessories like the tripod mount and hard cases for the 808 PureView too, but we don’t have any details about that, yet. More photos for you to enjoy below.
