Pizza boxed size server made possible by HP

Have you ever seen how big and huge a company server is? Usually it’s the size of a standard room right? Now, have you ever seen how big a standard pizza box is? Then imagine a server the size of a pizza box. Cute, isn’t it?

HP-Servers

Recently, Ms. Veronica Escalante, Category Manager of Industry Standard Servers and Software, Hewlett-Packard Philippines Corp. made their first leap into the future via their Project Moonshot. With this, we now have a server that is specifically designed to cater for web hosting, and cloud but in the third quarter they’ll be releasing a version for Telco and Analytics and by the last quarter its for the financial services, genomics, high performance computing, gaming and other applications.

HP Moonshot consumes 89% less energy which is good for the environment, 80% less space means more room for business expansion and costs 77% less when compared to traditional servers. The servers are also built from chips used and found in smartphones and tablets, which allow the servers to use less energy and a high-density footprint, at a lower cost.

With nearly 10 billion devices connected to the internet and predictions for exponential growth, we’ve reached a point where the space, power and cost demands of traditional technology are no longer sustainable,“ said Meg Whitman, President and CEO of HP. “HP Moonshot marks the beginning of a new style of IT that will change the infrastructure economics and lay the foundation for the next 20 billion devices.”
