Later this month, Facebook could launch a news-reading application or feature possibly rivalling the presently popular reader Flipboard. The news leaked midway through 2013 and is believed to be called Facebook Paper.

The service, which is still unknown whether it would be on a form of a standalone app or a mobile optimized web app, had been rumored to be an attempt by Facebook to encourage longer user engagement and advertisements.
Like the popular news-reader Flipboard, Facebook Paper is said to cater both trusted news sources along with the stories shared by the user’s friends outlined like a traditional newspaper aesthetically, hence gave the service’s name. The leaked news source’s claimed that the newspaper-like format will bring the users “back to a time before digital devices”.
Though Facebook still won’t comment on the product at all, sources inside the company says that the Paper’s currently planned to be released before the end of January. If the rumored timetable is correct, we’ll be expecting news from the Facebook regarding the Paper not very long from now.
