We had the Dell Precision M3800 for review for a few weeks. The very thin and light M3800 looks gorgeous in all angles. It is a very powerful laptop having the 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor. Setup with 8G RAM, 500G HDD, an ultra-sharp display having 3200 x 1800 screen resolution, a Gorilla Glass screen, housed on an aluminum frame, making it the best tool for people who are into designing, CAD, photo editors, photographers and video producers.
Design and Build Quality
The M3800 has a solid build, very simple and straightforward design. The keyboard area is all black and I like the very simple layout with the power button on the upper left corner of the keyboard, no other fancy keys making it very neat. Even with a full size keyboard, you still have so much space provided in the palm rest area.
Ports are located on both sides of the M3800, on the left side is the AC port, 2 USB and one mini-Display port, HDMI and headphone jack. On the right side are two USB ports and a card reader.
Performance
This laptop will perform without less compromise, the processing power is there and the viewing angles are just great. Although I did not use for video editing, I edited all photos in Photoshop while my browser is open and few other apps are running in the background. I was like working in my Macbook Air again.
The 15.6-inch display with QHD+ display made me set aside my Macbook Air and just enjoy using the large and crisp display of the M3800. The speakers also delivers a solid loud audio, its does not break even if you max out the volume.
Conclusion
If you are managing a group of graphic artists, or you are a video editor the M3800 will serve you well. Also if your video editing or photo editing software are running on Windows, this one is really for you. What I missed in this model is the LAN port. But in the package there is a USB-to-LAN cable. The battery life also served me for more or less three hours only, that means you can only bring this outside your office for a quick presentation and then you go back and put again your charger.
