It provides five-day deatiled weather forecast for each selected and customized location.
The app also complies with international standards on weather color coding system. So if you see that a specific location is colored orange, rain is intense on that area and flooding is threathening already. It is also an alert for possible evacuation already.
Disaster preparedness workshop
Not only the DepED participants including the bloggers had a a seminar on using the social media during disaster but they also had a workshop on how to prepare a communication plan during a typhoon or weather disturbance.
Each group gathered together, brainstormed, planned and presented their own disaster preparedness plan.
While each group had their own creative way of preparing for a weather disaster, we observed that everybody were cooperative and contributed one way or the other their own talent and skills to achive a common objective.
And with the great help of the data from Weather Philippines, including the existing and available media, wehther traditional or new, each group were able to come up with a workable plan.
Weather Philippines’s Sustainability Manager Kaye Rosario-Sangalang lauded the summit participants and expressed their appreciation to DepED Cebu.
The summit were supported by CitySavings, RAFI (Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc.), Rappler and select bloggers from Manila.
