Xiaomi brand is on its way back to PH market

Did you miss Mi?

That’s the Xiaomi brand asking the PH Mi Fans!

Is that a signal that the once super popular brand is coming back to PH market?

Back in the days when Hugo Bara was still the main guy of Xiaomi, he went to the Philippines to promote the online presence of Xiaomi. Their awareness campaign was felt from China, to India, and even more, locally. The “flash” sale thru Lazada made the consumer go crazy.

They even opened a service center in Greenhills to assure the buying public of their serious existence in the market.

But the lack of inventory and the online presence was not enough for the PH consumer. The traditional gadget-centric Pinoy would read reviews, search online sales, but buys offline.

The noise Xiaomi created in 2014 started to die down.

Fast forward to 2017, there are Chinese dealers that started to sell Xiaomi smartphones again on Lazada. But this is considered to be gray market selling. Official warranty of Xiaomi is not carried, only dealer’s warranty. The same strategy offered by the likes of Widget City and Kimstore.

The Xiaomi 2017 Re-Entry to PH

The Chinese brand probably recognizes that the PH market is one of the biggest consumer markets and they want to regain it.  Our source told us that the negotiation to bring back the brand has been going since 2016.

The comeback is thru a distributor and it will not be the usual Xiaomi products we used to see.

They are bringing lots of items to the Philippines aside from the smartphones.

Our source said we will be seeing physical stores as well as the e-commerce presence as usual.

We can expect big ticket items such as Smart TV, Routers, Purifiers, Bike, Robots, Dash Cams, Drone and much more.

Mi Home Philippines (Xiaomi PH Facebook) page is already up

Mi Home Philippines is what they call it and it has few teasers already. We’ve seen Mi Smartscale already posted in May.
