After the Samsung’s first two smartphones with dual-camera feature, another device is joining the bandwagon of this kind of trending. The new Samsung Galaxy C8 has been announced recently in China. One of the highlights is the latest facial recognition by allowing the user’s face to unlock the phone. For now, price and availability are unknown but it is expected to launch in India after a month or two. Sadly, here in the Philippines, most of the C-series of Samsung were not released.
Going to the hardware, the Galaxy C8 features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution. It is powered by a MediaTek chipset, a MT6757 Helio P20 processor paired with either 32GB internal storage and 3GB RAM; or, 64GB native storage and 4GB RAM. The two variants are expandable via microSD card that supports up to 256GB. As far as the optics concerned and already mentioned at the beginning of the article, the Galaxy C8 uses a dual-camera system. It consists the primary 13-megapixel lens and the secondary 5-megapixel lens with bright f/1.9 aperture that allows to capture an image in Dual Photo Mode. This mode permits a user to adjust the focus of the picture even after capturing it. In terms of selfie, the phone has a big 16-megapixel lens with an f/1.9 aperture.
Concerning about the battery, the Galaxy C8 is backed up by a 3000 mAh battery. It runs on Android v7.1.1 “Nougat” under Samsung’s Experience UI and equips with Always-On display and Bixby. The fingerprint sensor is located on the home button. It is expected that the price will start at ¥2,000 or ~P15,600 and will offer in three colors – Black, Rose and Rose Gold.
