ASUS ZenFone 5 officially launches in MWC with a ‘notch and A.l. features

ASUS launches the all-new Zenfone 5 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, as the direct successor of the Zenfone 4. It is the first smartphone to officially pack a Snapdragon 636 system-on-chip processor with multi-core A.I. (artificial intelligence).

As announced, the new Zenfone 5 is the most intelligent “Zenfone” ever that features an all-screen display, dual-camera system, bringing back the Zenfone 2 design at the back panel and most especially, the power of artificial intelligence that can adapt and learn, in order to bring perfect photos every time.

It has the 6.2-inch FHD+ 1080p resolution with an unusual 19:9 aspect ratio or 90% screen-to-body proportion that can fit in a standard 5.5-inch of 16:9 screen. A “notch” is located on the upper portion of the screen. The display also features an auto color temperature with the help of RGB sensor and the smart screen that automatically on and it doesn’t ill-lit when viewing. With this new kind of display technology, the full view screen will provide the maximum amount of space without needing a larger smartphone.

The smartphone comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC with an integrated Neural Processing Unit that performs computational responsibilities involved in the artificial intelligence learning like a human brain that helps to optimize the performance of the device. It is also the first-ever device to have this type of chipset with a multi-core A.I. The graphics unit used is the Adreno 509, paired with 64GB of storage and either 4GB or 6GB RAM. A microSD card slot is available that can support up to 2TB.

There’s a dual-camera configuration on the rear panel of the Zenfone 5 and they’re powered by also by the A.I. The main camera is a 12-megapixel lens with Sony IMX363 sensor with f/1.8 aperture that provides 5x light sensitivity and it features Night HDR, optical and electronic image stabilization, phase detection auto-focus. and RAW file support from the professional mode. It can also record 4K video. An additional 8-megapixel is intended for the wide-angle shots with a 120-degree lens. These two cameras can recognize 16 different scenes, including flower, landscape, and food, that can adjust the saturation, color, and dynamic that offers better image quality. On the front camera is another 8-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture.

The operating system on the Zenfone 5 is the Android 8.0 “Oreo” with the new ZenUI 5.0. To complete the specs, the connectivity includes the Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 ac with MU-MIMO for fast data transfer rates, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS for navigation, NFC, Face ID recognition and the fingerprint scanner. Battery-wise, the phone packs a 3,300 mAh non-removable capacity with A.I. SmartBoost and Smart Charging.
