Smart Communications is already on it — voLTE and voWiFi. And just recently, the MVP-led telco announced that the roll-out of voLTE and voWiFi is now nationwide. 

What’s voLTE and voWIFI?

Both are a feature for voice calls using an enabled device, not just a smartphone. Let’s define it for you.

Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) is a standard high-speed wireless voice call for mobile phones and terminals and IoT devices.

The Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) on the other hand is a feature that enables subscribers to make phone calls on VoWiFi supported phones.

What’s the difference?

Smart explains: “voLTE uses LTE network, while Wi-Fi Calling uses your Wi-Fi network for extended network coverage and enhanced voice & SMS experience.”

How to use voLTE/voWiFi

Make sure that you have an LTE SIM card and your phone’s Operating System (OS) is updated. To use voWiFi, you should have a fast WiFi network.

But one thing is very important.

To use voLTE, you just need that LTE signal.

It won’t use your mobile data.

Once again, the voLTE feature uses LTE network, so make sure that you have a valid SIM card. voWi-Fi calls use your Wi-Fi network for extended network coverage, so make sure to have high-speed home internet.
