Smart, TNT continue to assist more subscribers with SIM Registration

About three weeks remain until the SIM registration deadline on July 25. PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and value brand TNT continues to urge customers to register their Smart and TNT SIMs to avoid having their SIMs deactivated.

Smart worked with the Sta. Ana and Agdao Multipurpose Cooperatives in the Davao Region to make SIM registration easier for their members. Edna Villones, who lives in Davao City, talked about how she registered. “It was easy and quick to set up my SIM card. “I’m glad my SIM is now registered because it’s where I keep all my important contacts and where I call my family and friends often,” she said.

During Camp Fiesta, Smart and TNT worked with Police Regional Office 11 (PRO11) to serve officers from all over the region. Angeli Villaver, a patrol woman from PRO11, said, “It’s a must to register our SIMs so that they can be tracked more easily and to help stop the many scams that are going on. Thank you so much for taking this step, which made it easy for me to sign up.

Smart and TNT have been working closely with national and local government agencies to set up thousands of SIM Registration booths nationwide, especially in small towns and cities that are hard to reach. These booths help millions of customers register their SIM cards as law requires. “When it comes to SIM registration, we want to make sure that no one is left behind,” said Cathy Yang, FVP and Head of Group Corporate Communications at PLDT and Smart.

Smart has also recently teamed up with The Generics Pharmacy in Davao to help people getting medical care during their Kaibigan sa Kalusugan Medical Caravan register for SIM cards.

Smart and TNT will keep sending more teams to Mindanao so that customers can easily register their SIM cards, especially the elderly, people with disabilities, and people who still use old phones.

Smart Prepaid and TNT customers, both new and old, can also visit PLDT and Smart stores or go to https://www.smart.com.ph/simreg to register their SIM cards. The SIM registration act says that Smart postpaid customers are considered to be registered if their account information is already on file.

Republic Act 11934, also called the SIM Registration Act, sets rules for how to use SIM cards. This helps stop the spread of text scams and other crimes that use mobile phones. Now, everyone who uses a SIM card has until July 25, 2023, to register it under their name or risk having it turned off.
