DOST-TAPI Launches GAxD 2025, Invites Filipinos to Champion Local Innovation Through Creative Advertising

TAGUIG CITY (November 20, 2025) — The Department of Science and Technology – Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) officially launches the 2025 edition of the Gawad Alunig x Dalumat (GAxD) campaign, an annual initiative designed to spotlight Filipino-made technologies through compelling creative content.

Now in its fourth year, GAxD continues to empower filmmakers, storytellers, students, and innovators by challenging them to produce standout stories that elevate local science, technology, and innovation. This iteration places strong emphasis on science visual storytelling—leveraging short-form videos and photo essays as tools to amplify Filipino innovation to a broader audience.

Over PHP 300,000 in Prizes Up for Grabs

To inspire more creatives nationwide, DOST-TAPI is offering substantial prizes across both Gawad Alunig and Gawad Dalumat categories.

Gawad Alunig Prizes

  • Grand Prize: PHP 75,000
  • 1st Runner-up: PHP 50,000
  • Three Honorable Mentions: PHP 25,000 each
  • People’s Choice Award: PHP 20,000

Gawad Dalumat Prizes

  • Champion: PHP 60,000
  • Two 1st Runner-ups: PHP 25,000 each
  • Three Best Innovation Stories: PHP 20,000 each
  • People’s Choice Award: PHP 10,000

Gawad Alunig: Tell Underrated Innovation Stories Through Video

This year’s Gawad Alunig competition invites participants to turn overlooked local innovations into compelling short-form videos no longer than 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Entries should leave an “alunig”—a resonating impact that encourages communities to support homegrown technologies.

Gawad Dalumat: Celebrate Ingenuity Through Photo Essays

Gawad Dalumat focuses on the power of visual narrative. Participants must submit 4–6 frame photo essays that demonstrate analytical depth (dalumat) while highlighting the uniqueness of emerging Filipino technologies.

Who Can Join?

Entries may be sourced from:

  • Universities and colleges
  • Research institutions
  • Individual Filipino inventors
  • Local startups

However, featured technologies must not be part of DOST-TAPI’s existing assisted technologies list to allow new, emerging innovators to be recognized.

How to Join and Submit Entries
