A unit of PLDT known as Smart Communications, Inc. has reached an agreement with T1, one of the most important esports groups in the world. Under the agreement, Smart will help T1 grow its business in the Philippines by providing facilities.
As part of its goal to grow the esports industry in the Philippines, Smart will house the DOTA 2 Team of T1 and power its connectivity during their boot camp and tournaments, so they can learn how to play better. Carlo “Kuku” Palad, Khim “Gabbi” Villafuerte, and Karl Jayme are also on T1’s roster. They won the ESL One Summer 2021 tournament, the Dota Pro Circuit 2021 Season 2 Upper Division, and the Dota Pro Circuit 2021-2022 Tour 1 Regional Finals. They also finished in the top 7 or 8 of The International 10 2021. For their three-time world championship title in League of Legends, T1 is also known.
‘We are more than happy to help Kuku and welcome T1 to the Philippines.’ People who work for PLDT and Smart, Jude H. Turcuato, First Vice President and Head of Sports, said that this is part of Smart’s goal to help the Philippines become a better place for esports and to help Filipino esports athletes make their mark in the world.

T1, along with eight other teams in Southeast Asia, will play in the Southeast Asia Dota Pro Circuit Division I this month.
