I clearly recall how the Hyundai brand created awareness and later on gained the respect of the buying Filipino motorists. About 10 years ago, you will only see very few of their cars running in the streets of Manila, much more in the province. The same impression is being made by Foton, a Chinese car manufacturer who showed all their portfolio during the 2013 Foton Big Show at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, Philippines.
They displayed almost all of their automotive products with their top brass from China coming down to Manila to witness and support the show of their Philippine branch. From pick ups, vans that can be used as ambulance and service, to emergency rescue vehicles, trucks, down to the heavy equipment machineries. They had it displayed there including the dancing wheel loader.
The newly-elected Senator Nancy Binay was also there at the opening ceremonies, she was welcomed by the executives of Foton from China as well as the officers of Foton Philippines.
The NU Cherring Squad was also there as part of the entertainment. They gave the visitors at the show an exclusive demonstration and later unveiled the View Traveller van.
I also got the chance to test drive the Thunder 4×4 pick during the show. A few vehicles were available for select media and bloggers but I opted for the 4×3 pick up. Foton Thunder black and white colors displayed in the show.
The three day show was enough to send message to the public that Foton is here to stay and deliver superb high quality products that is made in China.
