Websense appoints TSPI as PH Value Add Disti

Transition Systems Philippines Inc., one of the country’s leading value add distributor of networking solutions and security products has been appointed by Websense. Websense which has HQ in San Diego, California, has now tapped the network of TSPI to distribute its unified web security, data loss prevention and email content security.

Transition Systems has HQ in Singapore with strong presence in Malaysia, PH, Indonesia, Australia, Brunei, India, Thailand, and Vietnam. PH office was incorporated in 2010 with 24 local manpower to concentrate in the distribution business. Currently TSPI distributes other products like McAffee, F5, Watchguard, PaloAlto, Infoblox and the new addition is Websense.

Transition Systems has almost 50 resellers that has concentration in Metro Manila and reaches as far as Cebu to cater to the VizMin customers. Ato mentioned that the potential of Websense will be in the Banking and Finance market with the BPO and Manufacturing as the next big customers.

The leader in in unified content security market Websense will complement to TSPI’s current set of security product said Mr. Renato Garcia. Solutions would include Web security, email security, data security, cloud security and mobile security.

Global technology customers like Samsung, Panasonic, HP, Nikon, and Canon are the top names in the long list of enterprise customer of Websense.

Key Websense 2013 Threat Report findings based on Year-on-Year comparison of web, email, data, mobile and social media threats:

  • Each week, organizations faced an average of 1.7k attacks for every 1k users
  • Malicious websites increased by nearly 600 percent worldwide
  • North American malicious sites increased by 720%
  • Legit web hosts were home to 85% of those malicious sites
  • Half of web-connected malware downloaded additional EXE files in the first 60 seconds
  • Only 7.7% of malware interacted with the system registry
  • Thirty-two percent of malicious links in social media used shorted URLs
  • The US, Russia and Germany were the top three countries hosting malware. Bahamas made its debut into the list of top five countries hosting phishing sites.
  • China, USA and Russia were top three countries hosting command and control servers
  • Only one in five emails were legis and email spam increased to 76%
  • One in 10 malicious mobile apps asked for permission to install other apps, something rarely required by legit apps
