Today, as scheduled, Xiaomi announced a new smartphone, and its price is able to compete in mid-range category. Few days ago when the Chinese company officially teased the upcoming phone, and as based on leaked specs, they are true. The new Xiaomi Mi 5X is a 5.5-inch IPS display with metal build, uni-body design, and has a chary antenna design, that improves its premium appearance.
It features a dual-12 megapixel cameras at the back, one with wide-angle lens and f/2.2 aperture, while the other is a telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture. Both is accompanied by a dual-tone LED flash. The front camera comes in 5-megapixel that can record up to 1080p video resolution. A circular fingerprint sensor is also found on the rear panel, and the company retains the capacitive keys, instead of a physical home button.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X powers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, and is paired with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM, enough for storing large files and better multi-tasking experience. Keeping the phone to lights on is a non-removable 3,080 mAh battery capacity.
It runs on a newly-announced MIUI 9, based on Android v7.1.1 “Nougat” with some cool features, like “Image Search”, “Smart App Launcher” and the split screen feature. For audiophile, the company has built an amplifier, which is called “DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm” that enhances the quality of the sound by using a pair of earphones.
Xiaomi is expected to announce the expansion of availability in other countries, as the phone is only available in the People’s Republic of China.
