Global popularity of WeChat continues to gain momentum as it surpassed the 100 million registered user account milestone, reinforcing its popularity on the international stage.
WeChat was launched in the Philippines four months ago.

“We must thank all our fans for helping us achieving 100 million registered user account milestone in such a short space of time. To those people, and to future users, we promise we will continue to bring you innovation, just like the first-of-its-kind voice messaging service ‘Hold-to-Talk’ back in 2011, and we will continue to develop and enrich our user experience. Whether users want to create text message, share moments, or engage in live audio and video chats, WeChat has made it all available to enjoy securely and for free,” said Poshu Yeung, Vice President of International Business Group at Tencent, the company behind the WeChat app.
It has been popular in Asia, quickly becoming the most popular social app across multiple smartphone OS platforms and as well became the most downloaded mobile social app on the App Store here in the Philippines when it launched last May 14, 2013, with brand ambassadors Iya Villania and Drew Arellano, a local TV personalities for both ABC-CBN and GMA 7.
WeChat is included with Globe’s GoUnli30, where top IM becomes accessible to Prepaid users without having to connect to WiFi network, or Postpaid plan.
WeChat app is available in 18 languages, Free, and available for Android, iOS, Blackberry, Symbian and Windows Phone.
