Vietnam telco wants to buy South Korean IM KakaoTalk

KakaoTalk, the free IM which can be download in almost all smartphone avaialble today is being eyed by Vietnam’s biggest telco. In the report by TechinAsia.com, Vittel express to buy KakaoTalk for USD5 Billions.

Currently, KakaoTalk has over 100M users, three millions registered users are from South Korea.

In the Philippines, KakaoTalk was launched here in August last year.

And in just two weeks after its launch locally, the IM became the top downloaded app in Google Play and Apple’s Appstore.

Back in Vietnam, if Vittel buy out will be push through, the telco will expand its market to the neighboring Asian countries.
