Yesterday, we were invited to different kid of press conference. After the registration, a little cocktail was served and later on we were ushered to a completely dark room. And then out of the darkness came Gabe Mercado, he was the host of the event for Philips. He showed what seems to be the complete lighting portfolio of Philips.

Philips introduced six innovation concepts that embody the future of lighting—Flexibility, Controllability, Alternative Energy, Connectivity, Dynamism, and Materials Integration.

Alternative Energy – Solar-powered lighting solution.
The future streets of every city will be very bright and low-cost in terms of maintenance and electrical consumption because, Philips has created a breakthrough to using alternative energy through solar-powered LED lighting. This solution can be utilized in open areas including streets, roads and soccer fields. Developed for optimum energy-saving lighting system that uses renewable and free energy. It has higher efficiency compared with conventional lighting.
Connectivity — I always love wireless setup, Hue is for me!
Philips Hue lets the user control lighting through smartphones and Android devices. This unique lighting product has the ability to light up or off depending on the user’s preference. All you need is an Internet connection at home. Philips Hue connects to one of the ports in our router, and with the mobile app for IOS and Android, you can control Hue and create different lighting conditions. An alarm may be set so lights come on automatically or control it using the portal. With its smart geofencing technology, lights will initially turn on the moment you enter the door.
Controllability – Lights on demand.
The Antumbra series features presence, light and temperature sensors. When the Antumbra panel detects the body’s magnetic field, the lights automatically open with a striking wall-wash lighting effect. Philips has created an interactive display of lights with the use of Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), creating unparalleled level of design freedom for such a sophisticated lighting solution.Philips Living Shapes that contain OLEDs help emit light when a person or object is reflected, and appears as a mirror when apart from physical objects. This interactive mirror uses dozens of Lumiblade OLEDs to captivate audiences with beautiful, natural light.
Philips lighting inovation using LED is something to look forward too. From residential customers, to government agencies, subdivisions, businesses to industrial installations, the solution will bring down total cost of ownership and lessen electrical bills.
Most of these though are not yet available in our country, for example Philips Hue is exclusively offered by Apple Store and the nearest one in the region is Hong Kong. One basic Philips Hue kit cost around P12,000.
