I thought that we are seeing the Zenfone Zoom first, but I was wrong. ASUS sent over the Zenfone Max just before day ended today.
Recall that Zenfone Max was launched in August last year during the Zen Festival in Manila.
Zenfone Max boasts of having a massive battery capacity of a non-removable 5,000mAh, but still keeping it slim.
It weighs 202 grams, and with that weight, you won’t mind carrying it if you would be promised more than 2-days of battery life. In paper, it claims to be alive for 38 days.
Asus Zenfone Max features
The major selling point is the 5,000mAh battery. Hands down.
But we also see some deviation from the original Zenfone design here. While Zenfone Max front face looks the same as the other Zenfones, but flip it and you will spot the difference in the design.
The rubber back finish shows the Asus logo and on top of it is the 13-megapixel camera, an LED flash. The volume rocker is now relocated on the right side of the phone including the power button.
The bottom has the micro-USB port and a pinhole mic. The capacitive buttons are still the same, lacking back light that’ll be challenging to use in the evening or parties. (Unless you memorized the location of the keys).

We spoke to ASUS PH rep and he confirmed that it is now available locally. Asus Zenfone Max price is P8,995. P8,495.

Initial Verdict
Less the unwanted apps by Asus, I think I will like this smartphone. I always like smartphone with huge battery capacity. This time, there is no need for me to bring the Zenpower.
Allow us few more days for some testing.
