The Chinese trio – vivo, Oppo and Huawei, are dominating the market; Cherry Mobile second largest

A global industry analysis company, Counterpoint, has released Q2 2018 smartphone market research for the Philippines.

In the latest report, the dominant brands were noted – vivo, OPPO, and Huawei – all Chinese brands.

However, local brand Cherry Mobile is still in the ball game, but the Korean brand Samsung is on top of the latest figures. Counterpoint mentioned Cherry Mobile Flare J3 and S6 as the popular mobile phone models for the consumer.

Going back to the Chinese trio — Vivo’s famous smartphones includes Y53 and Y71. Meanwhile, OPPO’s popular models are the F7 and A83. Furthermore, Huawei’s Y6 and Nova Lite are the ones who are famous.

Apple still has a solid following, however, its market share declined to just 2% in Q2 2018, as compared to 5% during the same period in 2017, Counterpoint reports.

Meanwhile, other local brands such as Cloudfone and MyPhone was mentioned in the report to have a significant decline.
