ABS-CBN Press Statement on data breach incident at ABS-CBN Store & UAAP Store

There’s a recent breach that happened to two (2) ABS-CBN online stores namely the ABS-CBN Store and the UAAP Store. Both websites are currently offline now.

Here’s the official statement by ABS-CBN sent to Tech Patrol:

ABS-CBN has temporarily taken down the ABS-CBN Store (store.abs-cbn.com) and the UAAP Store (uaapstore.com) websites today (19 Sep 2018) at 9:30 AM following a report of a data breach of its online shopping facility.  Personal information and credit card details of our customers may have been exposed.  As of this time, there are 213 customers who may have been affected.  However, the investigation is still ongoing.

This data breach incident is isolated only to the ABS-CBN Store and the UAAP Store websites and does not affect other ABS-CBN digital properties. We have informed the National Privacy Commission and will be working closely with them.

We have started reaching out to all our affected customers. We also advise our customers not to give out additional personal and financial information to anyone who may be claiming to be an ABS-CBN representative. Should they have any questions or concerns, they may email ABS-CBNStore@abs-cbn.com. We assure our customers that their privacy and the security of their personal data are important to us and we will take measures to prevent this incident from happening again.
