The ABS-CBN Foundation and GCash have joined forces to carry on their efforts to preserve the La Mesa Watershed by means of reforestation, enrichment, and conservation. This agreement helps pave the way for GCash’s commitment to planting 160,000 trees at La Mesa, which is part of GForest’s objective of planting 2.3 million trees by 2023.

Cu, Globe Telecom CEO; Roberta Lopez-Feliciano, ABS-CBN Foundation Managing Director; Winsley Bangit, Gcash Chief Customer Officer.

The contribution made by GCash to GForest, which will cover a total of 220 hectares in the year 2022 alone, will provide a boost to the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to preserve and enrich the La Mesa Watershed. This watershed is the primary source of drinking water for Metro Manila’s population of 12 million people.

Although 1,500 hectares of the Watershed have been reforested since 1999, the Foundation is actively working with donors and partners from all sectors of society in protection, reforestation, and enrichment activities to ensure the continued viability of the La Mesa Watershed for generations yet to come.
