For its second semester, which will formally begin on February 14, 2022, STI will continue with its ONline and ONsite Education at STI (ONE STI) Learning Model to ensure that students receive high-quality instruction in the new normal.
The ONE STI Learning Model, which was launched during the school year 2020-2021, aims to combine online technologies with limited onsite or on-campus hands-on teaching to help students achieve the appropriate learning outcomes.
In the coming semester, STI will also provide online on-the-job training (OJT), which allows students to build soft skills and put what they’ve learned in school into practice without having to be physically present at the job site. A variety of digital tools, such as email, chat platforms, videoconferencing, and webinars, will be used to engage trainees and employers.
The virtual OJT provides students with work-related possibilities without jeopardizing their health or safety, as mandated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) during the epidemic.
Positive feedback from partners
When the virtual OJT was piloted last summer of SY 2020-2021, STI’s third-year BA in Communication and Bachelor in Multimedia Arts students were the first to participate.
The program received only good responses from the communications and multimedia companies that cooperated with STI. With the support of their OJT advisers, pioneer trainees of the online OJT were able to get onboard in these companies.
“Although the threat of COVID-19 is still out there, the online OJT allowed me to gain skills — such as creativity, teamwork, and adaptability — that would empower me to handle various real-world situations and to succeed in my future career,” Jessa Jaos of STI College – Cubao, a former online OJT trainee said.
Another former OJT online trainee, Gwyneth Nuez of STI College Ortigas-Cainta, expressed gratitude to STI for finding a means for students to get relevant job training despite the COVID-19 pandemic’s constraints. “I can claim that my education at STI is complete because of the virtual OJT,” she remarked.
Making real life education more accessible
By applying for the institution’s financial aid programs, such as the Pag-IBIG-STI Educational Assistance Program and the GSIS-STI Educational Assistance Program, students and transferees looking to enroll at STI for the second semester can receive a holistic and fulfilling learning experience at a lower cost.
Second-semester students will also benefit from STI’s internet connectivity assistance, which will allow them to use up to 34GB of free monthly bandwidth to access study materials and take online classes.
Under the ONE STI Learning Model, students who enroll at STI can now benefit from the institution’s high-quality education. Despite the hardships of the new normal, they have the potential to advance in their studies, complete their degree, and eventually begin their future profession as a result of it.
