Tulong Kapatid, a group of enterprises and foundations led by Manuel V Pangilinan, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Philippine Armed Forces (AFP).
Tulong Kapatid donated approximately 10,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the AFP at a recent turnover ceremony, while Makati Medical Center donated an additional 3,000 doses. The organization also donated money to the families of troops killed in the C-130 jet crash in Patikul, Sulu, last year. Through the PayMaya platform, PLDT, Smart, the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF), the Metro Pacific Investments Foundation (MPIF), and the One Meralco Foundation (OMF) spearheaded this donation.
“We have been loyal partners with the Armed Forces of the Philippines during different natural calamities, armed war, and the pandemic under the leadership of our Chairman Manuel V Pangilinan. Because the private and public sectors can do more when they work together, our relationship has grown stronger and more sustainable over time. On behalf of the MVP group, PLDT and Smart President and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio said, “For as long as resources are available, we will remain true and devoted to the AFP, who, in turn, have assisted and defended our nation.”
“The public-private cooperation has been going on for a long time. It is through this type of partnership – which extends deep into the ranks – that we can see how citizens are willing to assist the people. Even in remote and grassroots areas, we observe how a little bit of aid can go a long way. This collaboration is proof of that. We are lucky to have MVP group partners who provide us with these donations on a regular basis. “This support has aided the AFP in a variety of ways,” said Delfin Lorenzana, Secretary of National Defense.
PLDT gave five computers to the AFP Dental Records Information Management System (DRIMS), as well as technological and connection support for the Philippine Navy Medical Information Computerized System, in support of the Makati Medical Center Foundation (MCF) and AFP cooperation (MedICS). In collaboration with PSF, Maynilad, Women-In-Action Gretchen Ho, the Israel Embassy, and the MASHAV Program, the MVP group also provided 30 emergency bicycles to the MMCF’s Hospital-In-A-Bike Project.
