PLDT fibers up Samal Island, powering hybrid work and tourism

PLDT Inc. (PLDT) has launched fiber-to-the-home services in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS), offering the fastest fiber internet connectivity to the country’s “largest resort city” noted for its magnificent beaches and breathtaking views.

With an expanding population and a strong tourism industry, the IGACOS municipal government welcomed this development. “The installation of PLDT fiber in IGACOS will benefit residents and tourists.” This is also quite timely. “The internet connection is critical for our new city hall and the local college that we are running,” said IGACOS City Administrator Nieljun Esdrelon.

“We are thrilled with the launching of PLDT Home Fiber in the Island Garden City of Samal. This marks a momentous occasion, as we bring fast and reliable internet connectivity to the island–enabling entertainment needs of residents and tourists alike, and powering hybrid workplaces,” said George Carmelo Clemente, Vismin Head for PLDT Home Sales.

As one of the founding members of the government-mandated Presidential Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) under the Digital Infrastructure Pillar, PLDT and Smart’s ongoing efforts to expand and improve their integrated fixed and mobile networks are aligned with the Group’s commitment to the government’s overall digitalization thrust to narrow the digital divide. The island’s fiber deployment by PLDT is also planned to expand Smart’s mobile network capabilities and satisfy the connectivity needs of businesses and enterprises of all kinds.

These also contribute to PLDT’s aspirational multi-year transformation, which prioritizes customer experience, and to the Group’s efforts to provide the advantages of the internet to more communities while integrating sustainable solutions into the Group’s daily operations.
