CAT B15Q unboxing and first impressions

Ruggedness is the exact keyword that can be attributed to the latest smarpthone we received at Digitalspidey.com. It is a Caterpillar phone ladies and gents.

And when you talk about Cateripillar as a brand what comes to your mind are bulldozers, graders, backhoe, articulated trucks and excavators. Construction heavy equipment in short.

To complement the hard working engineers and skilled workers behind those gigantic equipment by Caterpillar, they also made a smartphone for them.

And today we are unboxing the CAT B15Q. This is probably the first of the brand to bring it to the Philippines to test the market. And we have to warn you immediately, the CAT phones will not hit the retail market, yet. We spoke to the local distributor who sent us the CAT phones and they told us that these models will be available for the corporate accounts.

The B15Q comes in a yellow box and what comes inside are what I call the usual suspects, nothing more nothing less. So you will see the USB cable which has a longer tip, wall charger, manuals and warranty card, removable battery and the rugged-looking B15Q.

The sidings has aluminum materials tightly secured by a special screw, buttons are plastic and colored yellow too. The body is rubber-finish material and at first look you will think that it is only a casing made by Caterpillar, but its not.

All ports are sealed with rubber materials — the microUSB port located on the left part of the phone and the 3.5mm port on top of the phone. The power button is located on top while the volume rocker is on the right side with a special button in the middle that activates the flashlight (no need for an app for this).
