LG outs affordable Q6 series with FullVision Display

LG is introducing a new line-up of affordable smartphones, the Q6+Q6 and Q6α. All of these three devices have identical features, with difference in memory storage & RAM, and availability in colors.

The storage are subdivided into: the biggest, 64GB with 4GB RAM for the “plus” version; the smaller, 32GB and 3GB RAM for the middle model; and the smallest, 16GB storage and 2GB RAM variant. Like the flagship LG G6, the display of these phones has an aspect ratio of 18:9 with tiny bezels on the sides on downgraded 5.5-inch screen with an unusual 2160 X 1080 resolution. The impressive display brings the FullVision technology, that was first introduced on the G6 models.

Added in the protection, the company is using the ultra-durable 7000 series aluminum that offers more strength.

“The LG Q6 is a blend of premium features, great performance and attractive pricing, a combination that is extremely important to us as we look at the way consumers are using smartphones around the world,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The Q series is our way of getting the superb experiences with the essence of the LG’s premium line-ups to more consumers’ hands and pockets.”

For the chipset that powers the phone, the Korean company uses the Snapdragon 435 from Qualcomm, paired with Adreno 505 GPU. There’s no fingerprint sensor as you may think. Instead, they implement the G6’s facial recognition implementation for unlocking the device.

A significant dropped in the camera sensor is also noticeable, as the LG Q6 has a single 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera, retaining its 100 degrees wide-angle lens.

Based on the press release, “The LG Q6 will go on sale in key markets in Asia starting next month (August) to be followed by availability in Europe, Latin America and North America onward.
