Microsoft PH and DOT launch Windows 8 Apps for tourism

In its continuing effort to promote Windows 8, Microsoft Philippines together with the Department of Tourism and Tourism Promotions Board introduce Windows 8 Apps for tourism. The partnership for these three agencies will enable Windows 8 users with information and features they need about the country’s best local destinations through a series local apps.

Dubbed as the More Fun Series apps, all Windows 8 devices may download the apps now which aims to highlight top 25 key tourist destinations of the Philippines.

The apps will be their online tour guide on Windows. Contents of the app are linked to DOT website, so that when any update made on the host website, the apps gets updated too.

According to Microsoft PH, the first 10 apps are now downloadable. These are Fun Beach Boracay Philippines, More Fun Destination Bohol Philippines, More Fun Destination Davao Philippines, More Fun Destination Cagayan de Oro Philippines, More Fun Destination Puerto Princesa Philippines, More Fun Destination Baguio Philippines, More Fun Destination Bicol Philippines, More Fun Destination Cebu Philippines, More Fun Destination Ilocos Philippines, and More Fun Destination Manila Philippines.

The initial apps once downloaded should be pinned at the Start of the screen of your Windows 8 device to receive real-time updates on new photos and articles on the region shared by tourists.

The apps has comprehensive information, it collects updated contact information of the businesses in the area you are located. So if you need to look for rates of the hotels, spa and resto in the area, the apps has it already.

If you need to check out fresh photos posted by the tourists in the certain area, you don’t have to leave the app, you can see it there too.

The app will strengthen the DOT campaign Its More Fun In The Philippines, it will also drive economic growth to the country. Local businesses will create more jobs, more sales and at the end will build a strong economy.
