As of the end of September, PLDT had exceeded its goal of adding one million new fiber users for the year, surpassing the 800,000 mark. In addition, they maintained their quarterly market share gains among telco providers.
In the third quarter alone, the telco’s home business segment attracted over 324,000 new fiber subscribers, cementing its position as the country’s preferred fiber service provider. During the Company’s recent 9-months conference, PLDT Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan mentioned high fiber uptake for the month of October, signaling continued momentum for the next quarter to reach a million new fiber subscribers.
“We are in a position of strength both in the home and enterprise segments and are determined to stay ahead. We have new ports coming in that will enable our Home team to offer our services to all Filipinos that remain unserved. As this continues to be a huge demand, we look forward to big growth as well next year,” said PLDT Inc and Smart Communications President and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio.
As more customers adjust to the digitalization of hybrid work and school arrangements, demand for quick installation and dependable connectivity at home continues to drive PLDT’s Home business development streak.
PLDT has increased its efforts to expand its network and fiber coverage in order to reach more houses across the country since the outbreak. With over 12.7 million homes served and 5.3 million ports ready to go, PLDT’s fiber footprint currently covers over 615,000 kilometers.
