Smart teams up with McDonald’s Philippines to provide connectivity in 250 McDonald’s Classrooms nationwide

Building on the success of their previous partnership, leading mobile services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is assisting McDonald’s Philippines in converting 250 unused party rooms in select branches into McDonald’s Classrooms – safe and quiet spaces where teachers and students can conduct virtual classes and meet their online learning needs.

Smart Bro Prepaid Pocket WiFi Advance kits have been distributed to all participating McDonald’s Classrooms around the country to guarantee that they can connect to fast and dependable internet for their e-learning. This year’s program also includes 200 more branches, up from 200 last year, to better serve users.

Because of a feature called Carrier Aggregation, which allows the device to combine multiple signals from different cell sites for a much faster and more reliable connection, teachers and students using Smart Bro Prepaid Pocket WiFi Advance may experience twice the speed of regular LTE Pocket WiFi devices. Up to ten WiFi-enabled devices can be connected to the device for easy sharing and worry-free surfing by numerous users.

Extended until December 3

McDonald’s Classrooms, which began on October 11 and will operate through December 3, will serve fully-vaccinated instructors and pupils aged 18 and above.

Only two instructors or students are permitted to utilize the free service during the two available timeslots: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each user must also make a reservation at one of the participating branches. Visit https://mcdonalds.com.ph/mcdoclassroom for more information about McDonald’s Classrooms’ policies.

“We are grateful to Smart for their continued support of our McDonald’s Classroom initiative. Through Smart’s provision of Pocket WiFi, we are able to better serve and equip the teachers and students with their distance learning,”

“We are honored to continue our partnership with McDonald’s Philippines in this initiative to set up conducive spaces for teachers and students. This is just one of the many community programs we’ve been happy to support especially during these challenging times for educators and learners. As we transition to a hybrid work and learning setup, we shall continue to look for more ways to provide Filipinos with world-class connectivity to power their daily tasks at work or school,”
