#Review: Cherry Mobile Infinix Pure

Before the CM 1+  came into the picture, Infinix Pure series was the talk of the town. There are two models, the 5-inch (Pure) and the other that falls under phablet category, the 5.5-inch (Infinix Pure XL).

We got the 5-inch model which has new packaging. Out of the many CM smartphones we tested and reviewed, Infinix Pure is one of the most gorgeous and I liked it a lot. Not only because the 5-inch model is good looking with its curves, but the battery life with only 2100mAh sustained me at least seven hours of data turned on.

What’s inside the box

The usual items are inside the box — the CM Infinix Pure, a 2100mAH non-removable battery, wall charger, USB cable, in-hear headset, warranty card, and the user’s manual.

Nothing much to expect in the packaging.

The looks and the specs

Under the hood is a Mediatek 6592M Octa-core processor running at 1.4Ghz, A Mali450-Mp2 GPU, 1G of RAM, 8G of internal storage which is expandable via microSD. You can take advantage of the dual micro-SIM and the usual connectivity features like Bluetooth and WiFi. It runs Android 4.4 Kitkat.

You will be happy to know that it has USB OTG feature. You can access external files using your OTG cable or card reader.

The 8MP with LED flash at the back takes really good photos, but the 2MP front camera did not impress us at all. Your selfies will not look good so better skip it and learn to take selfies with your camera turned around.

The back cover has a rubber-like finish making it pleasant to hold. It won’t slip off your hand, I promise. The side fo the phone is surrounded by a metal or chrome-like material which adds to its gorgeousness.

The three capacitive buttons at the bottom of the CM Infinix Pure does not have LED which is a little disadvantage especially when you use it in the evening.

The power button is on the right side and the volume control is on the opposite which blend with the metal strip of the casing. The 3.5mm audio port and the micro-USB port sits comfortably on top of the smartphone.

Display

I am not sure if the screen has Dragontail (some tech sites confirms it has Dragontail) to add protection. But the display is pretty awesome. Clear, crisp and viewing angle is perfect.

I watched Youtube clips and previewed my photos and I find it just okay even with 720 x 1280 screen resolution only.

OS and UI

CM Infinix Pure runs Android 4.4.2 Kitkat version with CM’s promotional apps like Pinoy App Shop, Cherry Fun Club, and eWarranty. Those Apps included by CM does not really bother me. You can even uninstall some of them to free up some storage, others that can’t be uninstalled can be disabled so that you can free up RAM.

Camera – Photos and Videos

I say the back camera takes really good pictures. Very well saturated specially with ambient lighting. I made a separate post about sample photos and video taken using the CM Infinix Pure. You can check it here.

Benchmarks

CM-IP-Bench

Antutu gave the CM IP a score of 27,300, a little lower than its big brother IP XL which scored more than 28k. Nenamark gave 52.2fps as the best score, the big brother IP XL has 57.3. (Referring to Yugatech’s review of IP XL)

Battery Life

More than 8 hours of Spotify playback broadcasting the audio on a Bluetooth speaker. Good enough! With data turned on, short of seven hours which is to me is already very impressive compared to the competition. Note that battery of Infinix Pure is non-removable.

Conclusion

CM is known for having low-priced smartphone and Infinix Pure is one of them. You will be very happy to know that this model retails only with the price tag of P4,499. This was posted by Ron referring to the Facebook post by one of CM’s distributors.

Among the Cherry Mobile smartphones that we owned and review, the Infinix Pure is one that I like the most. Simplicity is beauty couple it with a battery that last longer, camera that snaps fast and take good photos.

  1. I have a unit. pansin ko lang, intrpolated yung cam niya sa harap no? hindi siya 2mp talaga. haha! nakakainis. akala ko good buy na to. sana nag pulse nalang ako. pero the display and Multi tasking niya is good. also, OGS to pero bakit parang hard touch parin.

  2. This one seems cool! but I’ll stick to my cherry mobile cosmos one as the battery last much longer than I expected run as fast like iphone. I just bought this at Goods.ph for a good price
