We got hold of the latest mid-range smartphone of LG today. LG L70 white including LG L40 was in our HQ Monday April 12, 2014. The LG 3rd generation L series was launched in the Philippines on May 3. Check our launch story here.
LG was proud to announce that premium features found in LG G Pro 2 and LG G2 are also present in this affordable L series. The knock on code has been rolled out even to the most entry level model, L70 has Guest Mode, QMemo, Plug & Pop, QSlide features and most of all it has the latest Android 4.3 OS, the Kitkat.
This is what you get out of the PhP8,940 LG L70 smartphone – pretty much standard packaging that includes headset, microUSB cable and charger, warranty card, and a 2,100 mAh replaceable battery. That’s it.
Design and built
LG L70 has the looks of the LG G Pro 2, only that this one is a 4.5-inch display with only 800 x 480 screen resolution. In terms of handling, L70 looks perfect in the hands. Unlike the flagship models, even if knock code has been incorporated, L70’s buttons – power button and volume control are back on its old location. Power button is on the upper right side and volume rocker is on the left side of the phone.
The back cover has metal mesh-like finish for a better grip perhaps. When you look closely to the L70, it looks like the mini version of the first generation G Pro.

Dual-SIM with microSD for external storage
LG L70 has dual-SIM, regular SIM cards are provided and is located in one slot on top of the other. The microSD slot is on the left side.

LG 70 feels really solid, like I said, it looks like a mini G Pro. There an additional capacitive button specially made for the dual-SIM. The capacitive buttons are back button, home button, menu button and dual-SIM.
LG L70 is powered by a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, Snapdragon MSM8610, Andreno 305 GPU, a 5MP rear camera, in the front is a VGA camera which might not be impressive for the “selfie” community.
LG L70 Specs
- 1.2 GHz Dual-Core Snapdragon MSM8610
- 4.5-inch IPS (800 x 400)
- 4GB / 1GB RAM
- 5.0MP / VGA
- 2,100mAh (removable)
- Android 4.4 KitKat
- 127.2 x 66.8 x 9.5mm
- 3G (HSPA+21Mbps)
Early Conclusion
L70 might hit the market because of the price point. It will retail for only PhP8,940 and it has dual-SIM feature, has only 4G but you can expand it using microSD up to 32G. L70 has only 3G/HSPA+ connectivity, meaning it will only give you up to 21Mbps Internet speed.
For that SRP, I would buy one for myself rather than getting a top of the line offering of local brand which might give you headache later.
