We knew it already from previous rumors circulating around the web. ASUS is coming up with a tablet called FonePad; today it was launched at the MWC. The tablet is an upgrade of Nexus 7 as FonePad lets you call and text.
This 7-inch tablet will compete directly to the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Asus FonePad packs with an Intel processor, yes an ATOM processor at that. Powering the tablet is a 1.2GHz Atom Z2420, alongside with a 1GB of RAM, 16G of storage that extends up to 32G via microSD. Out of the box, FonePad has Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and an HSPA+ radio.
Asus FonePad will start selling in the US in April for USD249. The local rep has no word yet about its availability locally.
