Launched earlier this year as part of Globe continuing innovation to serve other market segment. Globe Charge is an alternative to stores, businesses that requires credit card machine but is challenged to get one because of the tedious requirement the bank has. With Globe Charge, a merchant is given this cute little gadget that can be attached to a smartphone or a tablet. That cute little thing is your credit card machine. Credit card transaction also known as cash-less transaction is made possible with this service from Globe.
So today, after my first coverage I dropped by Glorietta 2 to locate one of the store that uses Globe Charge, Sunnies is the one that uses that services from Globe in lieu of the usual credit card machine. Also, the mall is the nearest one to me, so I went and bought a couple of sun glasses. I asked the store assistant if they accept credit card and if indeed they are using Globe Charge. The cashier seems to be trained already — she brought up her Samsung Duos, inserted the card reader and asked for my credit card.
Right now, Globe Charge accepts Mastercard credit card, I hope that Visa will come up sooner. Good enough, I have a Mastercard and swiped it away!
Just like how you swipe your credit card, Globe Charge does it similarly — only that with this service, you don’t get the printed receipt but you get a SMS receipt of your transaction. The next steps are the usual stuff you do during shopping – you ask for the manual OR (official receipt) of the item you bought from the store.
It took me less than five minutes to finish all transaction — including taking photos for the purpose of this blog post. 🙂
What is crucial is your Internet connectivity. I was told by the cashier that there are regular customers who have used the service and most of the Globe Charge transaction were successful, meaning the app did not hang up or the smarpthone stopped during the transaction.
