LG L70 Review

The LG L70 priced at P8,940 can be your best bang for the buck smartphone because it is packed with features. Dual-SIM (regular size), latest Android 4.4 Kitkat, solid build — feels like the LG G Pro but a mini version.

It has 1G RAM, 4G internal storage but expandable via microSD up to 32G. A 5MP rear shooter, a VGA on the front, and 2,100 mAH battery.

Powered by Qualcomm 1.2 GHz Dual-Core Snapdragon MSM8610, Adreno 305, 4.5inch display with 480×800 resolution.

It is not so big, will fit to your hand comfortably. The required buttons are conveniently located — power button on the right side, the volume rocker on the left, the 3.5mm audio port on top, and the microUSB port at the buttom. Everything are installed into the right place.

Flip it and you’ll get even a solid back cover with metal mesh-like finish and the speakers at the bottom part. The rear camera with LED flash is right on the center.

Benchmarks

LG L70 Benchmarks

The benchmark shows that is on top of HTC One X and Transformer Prime TF201 using the Quadrant. Antutu gave a score of 12515 — with this number, you don’t expect this phone to perform well on gaming.

Camera

Camera is 5MP —  you should have a steady hand and a very good lighting condition in order to take good photos. It would have been better if LG has installed an 8MP camera on this device.

The capacitive buttons

LG installed a dedicated capacitive button for the dual-SIM which makes it easy to switch from one to the other. Back, home and menu button are pretty much standard — however, LG did not include back lighting to the buttons which makes your evening usage a guessing game.

Conclusion

Great design, solid architecture, updated OS and its made by LG. The quality can be attributed to the design of LG G Pro – a very solid device, but LG L70 is a stripped down smartphone targeting a certain market. For the price of P8,940, you can consider getting CM Ultra LTE (priced at 8,999). But then again, there are loyal to a certain brand, specially that L70 is made by a trusted brand.
