The Xperia Family was officially launched in the Philippines with its flagship smartphone Sony Xperia S plus three other siblings. Sony Xperia P, Sony Xperia U, and Sony Xperia Sola are the little brothers which are equally cute with their changing color strip when you browse through different screens. All these are now under the new brand name Sony Mobile Philippines.
Out of the four models the Sola was missing in action but we get to see the three models which I called the small, medium and large models. S being the large, P is the medium and S and the small.
Xperia U is the entry level which has 5MP camera, a 3.5 inches display 1GHz dual-core processor and Android 2.3 also known as Gingerbread.
Xperia U reminds me of the earlier phones which you can buy different casing, U has interchangeable cap depending on your personality. U comes in pink and yellow interchangeable caps.
The P model is the medium size and comes with a docking station. It features “WhiteMagic” display technology for great screen brightness. Xperia P is housed on an aluminum unibody design while WhiteMagic delivers the brightest viewing experience even under direct sunlight. P will be available in silver and black with a 4-inch reality display powered by Bravia Engine. It has 8Mp camera capable of HD recording, 2D, 3D and panoramic features. It also has mini-HDMI and DLNA connectivity for sharing content into any screen. It is also NFC-enabled.
Finally, the flagship smartphone – the Xperia S. Everything in HD, with a 4.3in display running on a Bravia Engine. HD 1280 x 720 screen resolution and 720p front camera and a 1080p at the back. It can take pictures within 1.5 seconds from standby mode with its 12Mp camera. It is likewise NFC enabled and it comes with 2 smart tags. Xperia S is the big brother and will retail at P27,900.00 if you are paying in Credit Card of P26,940 if you are paying in cold cash.
Xperia U will be priced at P13,990.00, Xperia P will be at P22,990.00 while Xperia Sola will retail at P16,990.00. Only Xperia S is immediately available the rest will be seen in stores in a couple of months. The new Xperia family will also be upgraded to ICS in Q3.
