We were invited last night on the launching a new line of smartphones – android series by Cherry Mobile. We were surprised it was not just a small launch for the media and the bloggers, rather it was a big party for all partners, local telco, distributors and vendors.
Cherry Mobile launched three android phones – Nova, Magnum HD, and the Superion.

The entry of Cherry Mobile Superion, the first tablet phone in the country will head on to Samsung’s Galaxy Tab, and with the price of only Php20,000.00 who would not want to have this tablet? And its powered by the latest Google’s OS – Froyo 2.2.

The Cherry Mobile Nova is similar to one of the HTC’s smartpones, equipped with a 3.2Mp camera. Its the entry level of the three android phones launched. Priced at Php 11,490, you will think twice if you want to buy yourself the high end competing brand, and yes it is equipped with what you need in an smartphone.

And the middle-end series with a name that sounds like a pistol – the Cherry Mobile Magnum HD, it looks like HTC’s HD 2, 5Mp camera, a little bit bigger that Sony’s Xperia X10 (we put it side by side last night).

We tested all of these units last night very briefly and I think you too will be happy to own one of these androids, specially the Superion. Its fast, responsive and most of all they are cheap for an android smartphones. Is Cherry Mobile the Sun Cellular in the smartphones market? We don’t know.. .yet. Let’s see how HTC and the other android-powered phones will react to these developments.
