EPSON’s Moverio Smart Glasses tested at Singapore night race

Epson’s Moverio smart glass was demonstrated at the Singapore night race for the first time.

Guests of Epson in the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS garage were able to try it, enhancing their trackside race hospitality experience through augmented reality (AR) technology.

The MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS garage is the nerve center of the team’s racing operations. The garage also provides an exclusive experience for guests of Official Team Partner, Epson, where they can experience a behind the scenes look at the functional areas, where racecar assemblies are prepared and where car performance is tracked and analyzed.

Using Epson’s Moverio smart glasses, viewer’s experience moved to a different dimension. Contents are overlaid on the lenses of the glasses showing team related content such as the anatomy of the racecar and race day roles of engineering staff.  It also shows a pit stop demonstrated in slow motion.

Contextual content from videos to social media feeds can also be screened to display directly in front of viewers.

“The combination of smart glasses and augmented reality technology today brings much potential to enhance the viewing experience of guests. We look forward to delivering new and exciting visual experiences to viewers through Moverio, in partnership with our customers and independent software vendors,” said Siew Jin Kiat, Regional General Manager (Southeast Asia), Visual Instruments, Epson Singapore.

As an Official Partner of the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula OneTM Team, Epson works closely with the team, leveraging its partnership to enhance the race viewing experience for its guests.
