Two compact-sized camera, two amazing performers, two cameras from Fujifilm that will give you headache if you just bought your camera and did not wait for Fujifilm X100s and Fujifilm X20. (We write separate story about X20)
I am hobbyist and I carry a Canon EOS DSLR. I love how DSLRs perform their task, shooting is fast, images are crisp, low light is not a problem specially if you have a red ring lens with 2.8 aperture, the only issue is the total weight you carry. Opps, there’s more – shooting in public place might be a problem, the guards in the mall or in Ayala becomes unfriendly when you start shooting with your DSLR. Now the compact cameras might be a good alternative.
Fujifilm X100s is an upgrade from X100 which was launched two years ago. The X100 came with Fujinon 23mm f2.0 fixed primed lens. Bearing a cropped sensor with 12.3 mega pixels, a 2.8-inch LCD with optical viewfinder, and the classic style body with a feel of film camera.
This year the upgrade comes with adding few more mega pixels to X100s, it has now 16.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor and the EXR Processor II. The X100s key features includes hybrid viewfinder (OVF / EVF) the Fujinon 23mm F2 lens, an intelligent hybrid AF (Fujifilm claims its the fastest in the market today) – speed is 0.08 seconds, start up time is really fast at 0.5 seconds which means you can start shooting in less than a second. You will not miss the burst shooting since the X100S can do 6fps at a full resolution. Artistic filters and digital split image display and for those who likes to use a digital camera as video recorder, it can recored HD movie.
I can keep writing about more of the features that really amazed me but let me show you one sample picture taken a profesional photographer Rommel Bundalian. He showed us how he captured raw photos and post process it while still in the camera. The need for post processing software like Photoshop can now be eliminated.

Artistic shots is no longer a problem via Fujifilm’s proprietary film simulation modes. User can choose from 10 simulation options which replicate results achieved by Fujifilm color reversal films like Velvia, Provia and Astia. Professional color negative films – Pro Neg St., Pro Neg Hi, monochrome filters and Sepia.
Filters are built-in too, with X100s you can choose from 8 filters like Pop Color, Toy Camera, Minature, Dynamic Tone, Partial Color (see sample photo above), High Key, Low key and Soft Focus.
Multiple exposure feature enables you to combine two separate images together to for special creative shot.
Fujifilm X100s will be priced at P60,000 and will be available in stores on the third week of March.
