So the big news today is all about the iOS 6.1 update for iPhone 5, enabling the device to become LTE capable. Both giant telcos offer iPhone 5 in their postpaid and prepaid subscription.
Earlier today, a lot of subscribers have experience the activation of LTE on their iPhone making the big question “will it be unlimited or capped?”
Globe released a statement today stating that their LTE services can be enjoyed without having to worry about capping. This was mentioned already by Peter Bithos, Senior Advisor for Consumer Business at Globe, in the official launch of iPhone 5 in December.
In the news release today, Globe stated once more that LTE on Globe iPhone 5 will be unlimited.
With this development, Globe postpaid subscribers on iPhone 5 can enjoy blazing mobile internet speeds of up to 42 Mbps in LTE-covered areas without having to upgrade their plans or pay extra charges.
“Even with LTE, Postpaid subscribers don’t need to incur additional fees or shift to a different or higher data plan just to enjoy the benefits of LTE. Globe is making LTE available to everyone on LTE-enabled devices regardless of their plan subscription.” Bithos added.
If you have Globe iPhone 5 which has just been updated to iOS 6.1, you have to note that as of January 2013, the Globe LTE network, which uses a frequency of 1800 MHz, has quickly expanded to cover more areas nationwide. Aside from Makati, LTE coverage is now available in select areas in Manila, Pasig City, Quezon City, Taguig City, Muntinlupa, Mandaluyong, Cebu City, and Boracay.
LTE stands for Long Term Evolution which promise up to 42Mbps lightning internet speed.
We will hear from Smart tomorrow as they call for a quick press conference. Stay tuned.
