Go Manila App launched by Manila LGU

The LGU of the City of Manila has launched a mobile App called Go! Manila.

Go Manila App will help not only the residents of Manila, but almost all people in Metro Manila who frequently visit the city. It shows real time traffic situations, emergency numbers, and historical information about the city.

The LGU of the City of Manila through Mayor Erap Estrada and Vice Mayor Isko Moreno would like this app to be the people’s virtual tourist guide.

This is how they described the app:

Envisioned for both local residents and tourists, Go Manila seeks to make life easy in an otherwise complicated Urban Jungle.
In a click of a button, you can have full access to real time Traffic Livestream, locate and contact Emergency Locations and Hotlines and discover the historic capital of the Philippines at the tip of your finger with easy access to popular tourist destinations, restaurants and nightspots.
The City Government thru the leadership of Mayor Erap Estrada and Vice Mayor Isko Moreno seeks to empower and engage its citizenry and visitors by making basic and essential services readily available by taking advantage of today’s technology.
Its a virtual tourist guide and a handy companion for commuters and travelers alike.
With Go Manila, everything comes easy.

What I liked about the app is the Locations menu – when you hit this, it will show you a Google Map with icons of government agencies and mostly Police outposts and stations with live telephone numbers. Clicking it will call the number indicated.

Live video streaming needs improvement.
In their Facebook page (www.fb.com/GoManila) they apologized for the problem the public encountered about the live video streaming problem. Most of the people who downloaded the app can’t view the live streaming. They get an error that says “Sorry this video can’t be played”.

Currently, Go! Manila App is available on Google Play. You can also check their social media accounts. On Facebook – www.fb.com/gomanila, Twitter – www.twitter.com/gomanilaph
