Phoenix Asphalt, a new asphalt player in the Philippines, is releasing an innovative product that intends to give an effective and long-lasting remedy for potholes on Philippine roads.
Cold Patch Asphalt Mix is a dense-grade, ready-mix product that can survive heavy rain, floods, and temperatures of up to 64 degrees Celsius. It is also storable and does not require heavy equipment for the application, which adds to its convenience.
“We at Phoenix Asphalt believe that the way for national progress starts with strategic, functional, and well-maintained roads. Hence, together with our partners, we are offering a solution that could achieve this, and help boost our government’s ‘Build Build Build’ program, while providing better journeys for Filipino motorists,” Phoenix Asphalt General Manager Julius Aguas said.
The Cold Patch Asphalt Mix is an environmentally friendly solution that may be placed directly on concrete and asphalt-based roadways whenever needed. It also eliminates the need for a wait after asphalt treatment because traffic may begin immediately after the product has been compacted.
“This type of product has a great potential in improving road maintenance as it can easily be used to repair cracks and potholes without the need for heating or mixing,” Department of Public Works and Highways Bureau of Research and Standards Officer-In-Charge Director Reynaldo Faustino said. “We call on our private partners to continue developing high-quality products that we can utilize and incorporate into our projects, and to support us in our pursuit of improving the lives of our fellow Filipinos through quality infrastructures.”
Phoenix Asphalt was formed in 2019 as a joint venture by Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Inc., TIPCO Asphalt Public Co. Ltd., and PhilAsphalt Development Corporation, the leading local independent oil company. In the same year, it launched ground on its own asphalt facility in Batangas, which is set to open in mid-2020.
