According to Ookla, the world pioneer in internet research and research, as data demand grows in the New Normal, the Philippines’ biggest integrated telco PLDT and its cellular affiliate Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have once again risen ahead of the competition in the second half of 2020.
Based on a study by Ookla of tests taken with Speedtest in the second half of 2020, PLDT and Smart have been identified as the country’s fastest fixed and mobile internet networks.
According to Ookla, PLDT received a 27.28 Speed Score, with top download speeds of 79.48 Mbps and upload speeds of 92.18 Mbps. For Q3-Q4 2020, the fixed network award is based on 74,788,737 customer-initiated Speedtest checks.
Meanwhile, based on 3,915,679 user-initiated tests taken with Speedtest in the Philippines for the period Q3-Q4 2020, Smart received a Speed Score of 24.99, with average download speeds of 20.08 Mbps and average upload speeds of 7.42 Mbps.
These results are better than the previous time when PLDT received a Speed Score of 24.79 and Smart received a Speed Score of 18.33.
Speed Score is a measure that takes into account both upload and download speeds.
