Nothing can really prepare a recent graduate for their first job out in the real world. While they did acquire things in college that were relevant to their degree, there are certain talents that are beneficial in the workplace that isn’t typically taught in school.

For recent college graduates, Samsung offers advice on how to make a smooth transition from school to the working world:
Grow a network
The first job might be intimidating, especially if you are isolated from your pals. Befriending coworkers is vital since they can give advice on how to operate more efficiently. Having a mentor will also be advantageous because it will lead to professional development.
Some recent grads may be too shy to ask questions, but they should do so nonetheless because it leads to more information and provides the sense of wanting to progress. Curiosity, in the end, leads to a well-rounded employee.
Have a system in place
The first few months on the job will be kind of like a test run. Even though they don’t have experience, new graduates need to show that they can do the job. To do this, it’s important to have a system in place to make sure all deadlines are met and performance is above and beyond.
A list of things to do can help you get things done. This is great because it can be changed to fit the needs of each worker. Some people just write down their tasks and cross them off, while others use systems. There’s the Pomodoro Technique, which lets you work for 25 minutes straight and then take a five-minute break. There’s also the bullet journal method, which organizes schedules, reminders, tasks, and other organizational tasks into a full structure. Find out what works and keep doing that.
Be flexible and willing to grow
Fresh graduates will be thrown into a new world, and to do well, they will need to be adaptable. “Yes, and” is a key rule of improv, which means to agree with a line of thought and then build on it. Say yes to a task and do more than what is asked of you. It may be out of your comfort zone, but being flexible helps you learn new things and grow.
