realme 9 Pro Plus Review

Overview

One of the three (3) in the realme 9 Series released in the Philippines is the 9 Pro Plus 5G, which became our daily driver for the last month or so.

This variant, which has a 6.4-inch FHD +Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, triple rear cameras with 50MP, 8MP, and 2MP, and a single 16MP front camera, is marketed as a “luxury mid-range” option.

Design & Build

I have to give props to realme for consistently releasing smartphones that have designs that are of high quality and look really premium.

It seems to me that the company has already polished the design of its smartphone. From the positioning of the volume rocker to the placement of the power button, the layout of the front camera is flawless.

Even the positioning of the rear camera module is nearly perfect, but for a small bump. The bump exists to retain the overall slimness of the gadget.

If you’re going to pick one of its many colors, make it the bright and bold Sunrise Blue. The Midnight Black version, however, is ideal for those who prefer minimalism.

The realme 9 Pro Plus has rounded sides and a glass back, both of which contribute to the phone’s upscale appearance and feel. This device, despite weighing 182 grams, fits easily in the palm of your hand after only a few minutes of usage.

I’d say that overall, the phone’s aesthetics are very good. I would give it a 10 out of 10.

Software/OS

The phone comes with the latest software — Android 12, Realme UI 3.0.

The realme 9 Pro Plus comes preloaded with Android 12 and realme UI 3.0. realme’s redesigned user interface includes extremely convenient customization options that enhance the user experience, such as an always-on display option for its SuperAMOLED screen.

The updated privacy settings and configurable animation for the fingerprint scanner and face unlock.

Even the on-display fingerprint scanner is so smooth when used.

During my review of this phone, I discovered that the most annoying feature was the intrusive notifications about the phone’s own app store. There is no way to disable the alert. Despite the fact that similar apps are free on Google Play, it relentlessly promotes its own.

Camera

The realme 9 Pro Plus has exceptional cameras, led by a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, which is also found in the flagship and more expensive OPPO Find X3 Pro.

realme 9 pro plus camera

It makes the phone one of the best photography-focused smartphones now available. To complement this camera, the device’s back also features an 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultrawide camera equipped with a Sony IMX355 sensor and a 2-megapixel f/1.18 macro camera equipped with an OmniVision OV02B10 sensor.

For social media consumption, even on content creation the camera of this realme 9 Pro Plus delivers.

The 16MPcamera has an f/2.4 lens and a Sony IMX471 sensor, making it ideal for the selfie lords.

What I really missed in the camera software of this phone is the video stabilization.

The new features they added on its camera app are the nicest “update” they made. The street mode and night photograpy creates really stunning photos.

Battery

One of the best features I want to mention in this realme 9 Pro Plus 5G review is its battery and its charging feature.

Thanks to its 4,500mAh battery, & 60W SuperDart charger. Refilling the discharged battery is a breeze. But I wish that they had a 5,00mAH instead of the 4,500mAh.

Connectivity

All of the connectivity features work well. I especially liked the 5G since it matches my SIM card, resulting in a highly optimal mobile internet experience.

Bluetooth file transfers are seamless as well.

At home, WiFI connectivity is better experienced using the 5Ghz WiFi frequency. I like it that I am maximising the speed of my PLDT Home Fiber giving me more than 100Mbps on my realme 9 Pro Plus 5G.

Conclusion

realme has proved once again, with the launch of realme 9 Pro Plus 5G in the Philippines, that it has fulfilled all of the significant and essential requirements.

I say that it should not come as a surprise that this smartphone is an absolute requirement for everyone who is searching for an upgrade.

That this, if purchased, is within their price range because of all of the features that you need are included in the package.
