Surf2Sawa by Converge Surpasses 500,000 Subscribers, Strengthens Push for Affordable Internet

Converge ICT Solutions Inc., one of the Philippines’ leading fiber broadband providers, has announced a significant milestone for its prepaid brand Surf2Sawa (S2S), which has now reached over 500,000 active subscribers just two years after its launch.

The prepaid broadband service was introduced in late 2022 to provide budget-friendly, contract-free fiber internet to Filipino households, particularly those who cannot commit to traditional postpaid plans.

Strong Adoption of Prepaid Internet

Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy said that the rapid growth of Surf2Sawa proves how prepaid broadband is becoming mainstream in the country.

“We are pleased that our prepaid model resonated deeply with consumers. This milestone not only reflects customer adoption but also advances digital inclusion. Through S2S, we’re bringing every Juan, Maria, and Pedro online and ready for the future,” Uy said.

Converge Residential and SME Business Group OIC John Paul Aguilar added that the prepaid broadband offering has inspired competitors to create similar products, ultimately helping expand internet accessibility nationwide.

Flexible, Affordable, and Reliable

Surf2Sawa was designed for the mass market, offering flexible load options ranging from ₱50 to ₱700. It features:

  • Unlimited internet
  • Speeds of up to 50 Mbps
  • Support for up to six devices
  • Minimal installation fees
  • No lock-in contracts

According to Conrado “Dhing” Pascual, Converge VP and Head of Surf2Sawa, the brand is addressing the gap left by unreliable wireless alternatives that many Filipinos previously depended on. Demand has been strongest in NCR, South and Central Luzon, but adoption is also expanding across Visayas and Mindanao, thanks to Converge’s ongoing fiber rollout.

Marketing with a Local Touch

Part of S2S’s success stems from grassroots efforts, such as BRGY. S2S, fiesta-style community events where residents learn about prepaid fiber firsthand.

Converge also tapped an all-mom P-pop group called MAMAMO, featuring celebrity moms Melai Cantiveros-Francisco, Rochelle Pangilinan-Solinap, Jopay Paguia-Zamora, Sunshine Garcia-Castro, and CheChe Tolentino, as brand ambassadors.

Celebrating 500,000 Subscribers

On September 9, Converge employees gathered at the company’s Pasig headquarters to mark the half-a-million milestone. The event included a live subscriber countdown, games, karaoke contests, and appearances from Converge FiberXers basketball players.

With this achievement, Converge continues to position Surf2Sawa as a game-changer in affordable broadband, ensuring more Filipino families can enjoy reliable fiber connectivity without breaking the budget.
