Last week I wrote about shopping a 2.8 lens, I was choosing between a Canon or Sigma lens, specifically a 24-70mm with a 2.8 opening.
I posted the specs of both lenses for me to check which one is better over the other. Brand-wise, I’d love to take home the Canon 24-70mm, however the price whether it is brand new or pre-owned makes me think twice. Canon lenses are always priced very high, or shall I say expensive.
The prayer was answered immediately. Thank you Lord for the immediate answer! A day after I did a little online shopping, I found a newly posted item for sale at TipidPC.com. The seller just posted the item for about 15 minutes or so. I immediately called him instead of sending a PM (Private Message). I was surprised that the seller’s office is in the same street where I go to work too and he has the lens with him.
Cut the long story short, after a few minutes of negotiation on the asking price, I took home a pre-owned Sigma AF 24-70mm F2.8. This is the older version, the one with Macro feature.
Here’s the sample photo of the lens.
Complete set can be found in my photoblog.
And here’s the sample image taken by Sigma 24-70mm.
Model: Tara Sim
Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark I
Lens: Sigma AF 24-70mm f/2.8
Utilizing the available light only or what we call an ambient light, I fired it and I was happy of the result. From now on, this lens will become my walk around lens. It is heavier compared to my previous lenses, but I’m happy about it.
